The America's Cup races have returned to Newport for 4 days (June 28 - July 1) of trial before the final races in California. They present quite a beautiful array of speed, color and grace in their own way. They are a serious departure form the 12 meter yachts we saw here in 1983 when we lost the Cup to Australia. Newport remains the home port of almost a half dozen of those beauties and tours can be scheduled.
For this viewing I decided to cross the bay and observe from Jamestown and spare myself the mob scene as racing occurred within the bay instead of on the ocean as with the races of the past. I collected many still images and some videos to give one the sense of the event. Enjoy!
