Roscommon Soles with Kevin Doyle
The Waterfront Series at King Park, Newport, RI is the site of the last concert of the season. This concert featured RI masters of trad Irish music in the form of ROSCOMMON SOLES, the latest project of Barrington, RI award winning step dancer Kevin Doyle.
Kevin Doyle was awarded a National Heritage Fellowship conferred through the National Endowment for the Arts. This is the highest honor conferred upon a traditional artist in the USA. Also, Kevin is only the third Irish step dancer to be so honored. His predecessors are Michael Flatley (Riverdance) and Donny Golden of NY. Kevin's performances were seen at the Obama Whitehouse, The Smithsonian and concert halls around the world.
The Roscommon Soles include: Mary Lee Partington, Sheila Falls Keoshane, Tim Keoshane and award winning piper, Torrin Ryan.
The afternoon performance opened with Newport's trad ensemble Rhode to Dublin featuring Timmy May and friends.
