Friday was the opening day of Folk ON 2021. I was on the road all day until about 4:30 when I returned to experience the Marcus King Band on the Quad stage. He totally tore it up. A young man with a huge presence, vocally and on guitar. I arrived too late to photograph him but Grace Potter was soon to follow. She played one on the Flying V and one on the acoustic. When she shifted to the keyboard, producer Jay Sweet took the stage and announced that sever weather was forecast for the area and advised all to safely evacuate the site. With this, Grace was offered an opening set the next morning and Nathaniel Rateliff, who was also rained out was offered a make up the next day. Thankfully, there was no weather as it all blew north and there were no other weather events for the remainder of folk or jazz - 10 days in all. We were very fortunate to have this opportunity amid Covid-19 to have a safe and normalizing life experience. Say Hallelujah!
