Philly Folk Festival 2017 - Highlights
This was a very exciting 3 days of music and while there was a lot of rain forecast, it only dropped for a couple of hours late afternoon Friday. Like Woodstock, it only seemed to add to the experience and no one was hurt nor was the programming impacted. I captured much of the action but gave myself permission to ease back a little this year. I explored the beer tent and found it to be enjoyable - nice folks all around. I also checked out the Martin Jam on Sunday and after much consternation, I put my name on the list to go onstage and sing one. They threw everyone's name into the hat and when Susan Werner pulled the name I heard my name being called. This is too much! I had won another Martin guitar! Words can't do it justice.
This year I've amassed the full 3 days of highlights into this gallery. It's the task of cutting through about 4,000 shots and choosing the ones I want to represent. I've ordered them when possible by having the group first, then individual profiles following and ending with a group shot. My highlights include Graham Nash, the voice of my generation, who offered a selfless performance which was thorough and memorable, as much for the crowd's engagement as for anything he did. I also loved TajMo - a well tuned amalgam of some of the best stuff of our times. As with Nash, I got into Taj in 1968 and he offered up a few of those early pieces. Heavenly!
I hope that folks will enjoy visiting the Philly Folk Fest 2017 through my lens and letting me know your thoughts at: jack@jackcaseyphoto.com
I recommend using the Slideshow option for full screen viewing of each image. Throw yourself into it - I promise you won't get any mud on ya.
Enjoy!
