Johnny Winter
Thursday night, June 24, 2010 was a special night. My friend George, who I met 3 years ago at a JOHNNY WINTER show at The Blues Cafe in Newport invited me to join him at The Showcase LIVE in Foxboro by the Patriots' Gillette Stadium. The warm up was ANDY ALEDORT & THE GROOVE KINGS. Andy also plays with Dickey Betts' Great Southern band. He ripped it up pretty good in this very inviting club. He had Johnny's drummer, VITO LIUZZI, sitting in.
After a small break in between Johnny ambled to the stage and took his seat behind the microphone. His voice has softened considerably. His playing was noticeable stronger than when I heard him 3 years ago. Johnny played many of the hits he's noted for and the crowd loved him. I recommend this venue to all who live within reasonable commute. they are bringing in some notable talent.
