Tulips at Salve Regina
Tulips at Salve Regina
A brief visit to the campus one day after graduation 2021. While the tulips are beyond their zenith I still delight in collecting a few with the wonderful gatehouse. According to the Salve Regina website, "Situated along Ochre Point Avenue near other academic buildings, the Misto Gatehouse houses the Office of Mission Integration. It is named for Sister Leona Misto, the University's vice president for mission integration from 2001-2016.
Misto Gatehouse was once the gardener’s cottage for Catherine Lorillard Wolfe's sprawling Vinland estate, one of seven former Gilded Age estates on which Salve's campus is now situated. Designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, the building’s turrets, gables and wrought-iron lanterns presented a storybook welcome as guests entered the sweeping curve of Vinland's driveway".
