Ireland 2018 Highlights
This was the trip of a lifetime. From September 4-14, 2018 we visited southwestern Ireland. I knew that my great grandfather was born as the Irish potato famine began and came to the USA as a little boy. I had very limited knowledge of the family before him as most perished on the 2 month voyage here. I learned of my father's maternal roots through Ancestry and was most fortunate to visit them and learn more about the family. Our trek began in Cork where we spent 2 days then headed south to Newport's twin-city, Kinsale, where we stayed for one day. From there we went west toward Derrynane where we stayed 2 days and got to visit a cousin who really showed us a great time. Then off to Killarney for a day. We then went off script and headed inland east toward Dublin to meet a cousin for the first time. This was SO great. We spent the day and learned about the family house, the house ghost, Clarence, and the graveyards where family rest. Then, back west to Ballydavid for one night. Next up the coast we headed to Spanish Point where we lodged for 2 days and used this site for our visit to the cliffs and a particular pub to see a specific artist. We then moved to our final rest at Bunratty Castle Hotel outside of Shannon so we could access the airport with ease.
Through all of this we were continually engaged with new sights and experiences literally at every turn. I believe that a picture tells a thousand words so I'll let the images speak. This was a big trip, lots to see and in some cases videos do a better job. Come and take a trip with me. Know that what you see was literally trimmed to 20% of the bulk of my images. Enjoy a trip through my eyes and drop a note if you like at jack@jackcaseyphoto.com Sláinte!
